In the “Popular Imagination,” the Old West has always been the stage for epic saloon brawls, bloody duels in deserted streets, and also savage attacks by Native Americans; always distinguishing the good man (of the law) from the ugly man (outlaw) and the bad man (Indian), or simply transforming them into legendary characters.

The character was created by Wilson Vieira in the 1980s, initially as a series of comic books, the first to be published being "GRINGO the Chosen One."
