Da dicembre 1963 queste strisce vengono ristampate nel classico formato a quaderno, detto bonelliano, fino a pagina 39 del n. 97 (dicembre 1971), dopo di che il mensile pubblica materiale inedito fino alla chiusura della collana, avvenuta con il n. 255 del febbraio 1985. Ad Andrea Lavezzolo e Sergio Bonelli, nella stesura dei testi si affianca Decio Canzio, con il quale si alternano Giancarlo Berardi, Raffaele Cormio, Giorgio Pezzin, Marcello Toninelli ed Ennio Missaglia, oltre ad Andreina Repetto, Alfredo Saio e Luigi Naviglio che con me formano il team di sceneggiatori dello Staff di If. Per i disegni, oltre a Francesco Gamba e Birago Balzano, contribuiscono Pietro Gamba, Franco Bignotti, Lina Buffolente, Erminio Ardigò, Luigi Merati, Giuseppe Montanari & Ernesto Grassani, oltre allo Staff di If (Giancarlo Colombo, Wilson Vieira, Carlo Leone, Pierino Del Prete, Giovanni Crivello e Gabriella Molisso).

Un giovane messicano, Diego Ortega, è stato colpito a morte dai Desperados. Kit e Frankie non giungono in tempo per salvarlo ma prima di morire il giovane rivela ai due rangers l'esistenza di un piano per impadronirsi di un treno carico d'armi. Lo stesso Ortega e sua sorella intendevano sottrarre le armi per aiutare la rivoluzione e si erano per queso alleati con Manolo Fuentes, capo di una banda che spadroneggiava lungo la frontiera. Preferendo tenere le armi per sé e ingrandire così il suo regno di terrore, Fuentes ha fatto sparare a Ortega…
